Spen Valley Greenway

so last night our second recci out was to The Spen Valley Greenway…

The area we covered consisted of a small series of tunnels and bridges… during my childhood this was my playground and I spent many hours here, the largest tunnel always had a strange feeling to it…

Team also took a look at the tunnel under The Greenway which is locally known as The Cagewalk as this was the route the miners took to the mine top of the former Strawberry Bank Collery which was very close by…. urban legand for this is if you are in the tunnel when the church bells chime midnight then the phantom got you…….

once darkness had descended The Greenway took on a sinister feeling and soon shadows we being seen in various areas and we were seeing extra figures within the group… There we 6 of us out but we were counting 7 figures in the darkness……

We took up investigation in the largest tunnel which was a few hundred feet from the former Liversedge Central Station which was built in the mid 1840 (pictured above) …

At the far end of the tunnel we could see a shadowy figure watching us from around the corner, we went to investigate but nothing nor nobody there, but what we could see was the outline of a small building but when we put torch on, nothing there, was something playing tricks with our eyes???

Further alone and past the second bridge (roughly a few hundred feet from where we were) another black shadow figure could be seen…. a couple of members of the team went to investigate and what they told me on their return chilled me to the bone … They described the phantom from my childhood…

As a family we moved to Millbridge onto a brand new estate which was still in construction when we moved in.. The flats across the top were still being built and as kids we used to play on the construction site and very very regularly we were scared witless by seeing a black figure with red eyes which appeared in the window areas….

Had the phantom come back
