We started our evening investigating The Secret Garden housed within Thornes Park. Within the garden is housed some beautiful old relics from Wakefield’s yesteryear. These include the original frontage from St Mary’s Chantry Chapel, One of the original spires from Wakefield Catherdral and also the Pillars from Wakefields very own market cross.
We started with the old frontage from St Mary’s Chantry Chapel, set up the K2’s and also did a dowsing rods session. We asked a variety of questions and got some fantastic results from the rods.. We even had movement on one of the motion sensor balls which we situated on part of the ruins. We had one of our lovely members Terrie with us and she enjoyed participating in using the rods.
We then moved around the garden and reset up by the spire from Wakefield Catherdral and also the Pillars from Wakefields market cross. We set up the SB-7 spirit box and also had the K2’s and motion balls…. yet again some more fantastic results.
We moved from The Secret Garden and relocated to the area near the duck pond.. Around this area is known for people taking their own lives in a huge tree that once stood there.. The tree has now been cut down so we used the trunk as a base where we set the spirit box back up and yet again fantastic results. All of us noticed this area was a very cold spot and had a eerie feel to it…
We then moved around the park and reset up around the fountain
This area to me had a very oppressive feel and as a investigator I was very uncomfortable here to the point I couldn’t approach too near to the fountain.. The minute I started on the steps I had the eeby jeebies and had to walk away. Nevertheless our good investigator Wayne did a spirit box session here with some good results.. Terrie and myself went in search of the legendary sightings that have been told… We walked around to see if we could see either The Headless Man who is rumoured to be one of the owners from Holmefield House, The White Lady or the Black monk…. needless to say they didn’t make a appearance…..
After concluding the investigation in Thornes Park we crossed the road and went into St James Church
We entered the grounds and such a feeling of calmness engulfed us.. such a lovely serene place.. Wayne set up the spirit box and Terrie and myself investigated the graveyard. We had read reports from a post on Spooky Going on’ s in Yorkshire from one of their members that he had encounted some strange hooded creatures within the graveyard, we walked around the area concerned but didn’t encounter anything out of the ordinary. Wayne yet again got some fab results on the spirit box and all in all a very good night’s investigation and well enjoyed by all
